I’m still figuring things out in my life. Do I really have what it takes to be a Brilliance Coach for others?

A good coach does not have a perfect life. Good coaches know how to embrace their human-ness and stay present and conscious to the ongoing evolution that is life! A good coach remains curious, humble, and is able to see the brilliance in others and in themselves. Great coaches are committed to their own ongoing personal growth and are ready, willing, and passionate about supporting the personal growth of others. True empowerment lies in owning our humanity, not by pretending we have all our stuff figured out. Knowing this is the first step to becoming a great coach!

How long does an average client work with a coach?

The average coach client usually works with a coach from 3-6 months on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Of course, this can vary widely. But, the Brilliance Coaching curriculum is designed to have you work with a client for a minimum of 3 months should you take them through all twelve sessions on a weekly basis. In addition, it is not at all uncommon for a client to continue working with you after the initial twelve sessions as they go on to pursue new goals. Some clients may even continue to work with you in some ongoing capacity for years.

I still have more questions or some doubts. Should I still apply?

It’s normal to have doubts when you are considering a big commitment, and it doesn’t necessarily mean that you shouldn’t go forward with that commitment. A certain amount of doubt is a healthy sign of right humility and is actually necessary to be an effective leader. Our advice to you would be to review all the information you see here carefully, and to discuss any additional questions you have with Amy in your interview. If she does not feel this training is the right fit for you based on what you’ve shared, she will let you know her perspective, and point you in the direction of other trainings accordingly.

I want to combine some of my other skills with coaching. Do you provide support in figuring out how to do that?

Yes! This is one of the super powers of the Brilliance Academy program and one of the places where many other comparable trainings frankly fall short. It’s a natural thing to want to combine your coaching skills with other areas of your expertise. We train our coaches in how to do this skillfully and creatively to help them stand out among the competition.

You will spend a whole portion of the training (towards the end) outlining the ways to develop your own unique coaching practice and offerings, including how to combine it with other areas of interest that you have. We believe this is a major key to your sustainable long-term success as a coach, and therefore is an essential component to include in any coach training.

What’s the difference between coaching and therapy? What about coaching and consulting?

Coaching is a strategic alliance between a coach and client that is designed to empower the client to access their inner potential so they can transform perceived obstacles into real opportunities for optimal living. Distinctly different from traditional types of therapy, coaching does not focus on healing wounds from the past. Also different from consulting, coaching does not consist of sitting down with someone who will dictate specific solutions or answers to your “problems.”

Rather, coaching is designed to help you envision what you most desire and provides you with the tools to help you create it. As a coach, you may lead your clients through self-exploratory exercises, guided visualizations, critical thinking exercises, journaling activities, embodiment exercises, and other investigative and self-inquiry techniques so that they may find their own truth and cultivate the skills to manifest that truth. Many therapists and consultants also become certified coaches so they can offer additional support to their clients, but it’s important to be clear these are very distinct roles.

Can I do coaching as a part-time or supplemental career?

Of course! Many people decide to do coaching as a supplemental career to their current profession. Because coaching can be done over the phone, virtually online, or in person, it provides a lot of flexibility for how, where, and how much you do it as a career.

I already feel like I’m coaching people. Why do I need training?

We get it. A lot of times people who have an interest in doing a coach certification program have a natural talent for supporting others. However, coaching skillfully in a way that leads to long-lasting and sustainable changes and transformation requires professional training. Enhancing your raw talent with tried and true strategies and techniques provides you with a winning combination for a successful career.

On top of that, you’ll receive invaluable support on how to launch your coach career quickly and effectively post certification and become connected to a wonderful collective of colleagues also committed to promoting brilliance in others and themselves. Just like any profession, the more trained you are, the more skilled you are at your services. And having the skills of a certified Brilliance Coach opens you up to a whole other level of possibility in your career.

I already have a job, and I don’t want to become a professional coach. But I’m still really interested. Should I take this training?

Not everyone who takes a coach training becomes a full-time practicing coach, but instead they use what they’ve learned to infuse a philosophy of empowerment into whatever job it is they currently do. There are so many professionals that would greatly benefit and excel in their current careers if they had the skills offered in this training. It is not at all uncommon for individuals to pursue training, even if they don’t plan on starting a career as a coach. The training itself is life transformational, and well worth it regardless!

Past graduates that have greatly benefitted from this training include successful professionals from all walks of life, such as photographers, aerospace engineers, stay-at-home mothers, real estate agents, hedge fund bankers, tango instructors, corporate managers, and so much more.
